Conceptually the house has 3 main elements of progression. The old (main house), the revisited (existing scullery alteration) and the new (new bedroom wing).
Each successive element tells its own history through form but is connected and joined to one another in harmony around a communal outdoor space. Relationships are made through sharing the deck space or through texture and colour rather than form.
The various elements of the alteration make subtle attempts to be empathetic with the main house’s historical character (bay windows and window proportion), but is simply juxtaposed in detail and overall shape in order to clearly identify heritage elements from new.
