The budget was a large part of the thinking behind the solutions for this project. It was quickly identified that the budget for the project would be challenging in terms of the initial brief which included expanding the existing house.
Some creative thinking allowed us to solve the clients brief and budget concerns by making the house internally more efficient and providing a cost effective outdoor room (deck and covered verandah).
The result was in keeping with the character of the old villa, filled with light and the sun’s heat. With a few simple moves, the design completed the rear of the house and provided a smooth transition to the rear yard. The budget savings through efficient planning allowed for expenditure on a cook’s kitchen and to add features like skylights to improve the quality of space.
