The Ngaio “railway cottages” are a cherished part of Wellington’s heritage. Wright & Gray Architects Ltd have now renovated two of these unique homes. Changes to the original houses are tightly controlled by planning laws, and all alterations require resource consent approval.
The owners needed more floor space for a growing family, so the challenge was to design a substantial addition that would not compromise the streetscape or integrity of the house. The extension provides both access and outlook to the large and attractive back yard.
